Analytical Support
The Analytical Team at Chromaflo Technologies provides superior assistance to coatings manufacturers in problem solving, failure analysis and product development, using a variety of instruments and scientific techniques to analyze materials.
These techniques include:
Molecular Spectroscopy
Our laboratory is equipped with a variety of molecular spectroscopy instruments to assist us with this type of analysis. Instrumentation includes, but is not limited to, FT-IR, FT-IR microscopy, Mass Spectrometry and UV-VIS.
Chromatography
Our laboratory uses a specialized liquid chromatography technique, Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), for polymer molecular weight determination. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is available for quantification of materials in liquid suspension. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) is also available to analyze raw materials and products for qualification, problem resolution and VOC testing.
Thermal Analysis
Chromaflo uses Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) to perform thermal analysis and Pyrolysis GC for thermal decomposition identification.
Physical Materials Science
We utilize numerous analysis techniques for physical testing of materials. Our methods include rheology, optical microscopy, digital imaging with 3D topographical mapping, particle size analysis, accelerated Xenon Arc and QUV weathering.
Additionally, Chromaflo routinely employs contract laboratory services to complement our capabilities and assist our customers with their colorant challenges. Other common techniques used include SEM–EDS, ICP-MS and NMR.
