4 Benefits of the Chroma-Chem® FLV Series Color Packs

julho 9, 2021

Earlier this year, Chromaflo Technologies introduced a series of pre-blended color packs based on our new FLV Series masstones. These color packs were designed to provide a finished color in a single package that can be added to clear, reactive, liquid epoxy, polyurethane, and polyaspartic coatings. The FLV Series color packs, and color packs in general, offer a few key benefits.

Benefit #1: Efficiency

The main benefit of using pre-blended color packs is efficiency in the tinting process. The color pack comes fully formulated to match the finished color. There is no shading or adjustment needed whether the color pack is used in-plant or at the point of application. The color packs arrive ready-to-use. These colorants are simply added to a clear base, then the tinted coating is mixed and applied.

Because the color pack is adjusted to meet tight color specifications, the final color will remain consistent from the beginning to the end of the project.

Benefit #2: Improved Inventory Control

A second benefit to using color packs is better inventory control and a more efficient supply chain.

To manage a large color palette without color packs, there are a few approaches to take:

  • Inventory must be kept for every color option.
  • Every color is made as needed either in-plant or at a tinting center.
  • A hybrid approach of stocking large volume colors and making small volume colors as needed could be employed.

Each approach has its benefits and drawbacks. However, if the process is not managed properly, inventory with low demand could take up valuable floor space or material will not be available to fill customer orders. The benefit of using color packs is most of the inventory would be untinted bases. The color packs require less inventory space, possibly only 10-15%, and any variability in color demand would not overly impact inventory floor space.

Benefit #3: Compatibility

Another benefit of the FLV Series is that these colorants can be used across many coatings’ chemistries. Imagine trying to manage inventory levels of multiple colors in multiple types of coatings. The FLV Series color packs are compatible with many coatings’ chemistries. They can be used in epoxy, polyurethane, and polyaspartic coatings. It is possible they can be used in additional coatings as well. So, each FLV Series color pack has the ability to tint many different types of coatings and improve supply chain efficiency even further.

Benefit #4: Dispenser System

If using color packs does not fit your business model and the tinting center approach is a better option, the FLV Series masstones can be used in a dispenser system. Job site tinting would not be possible, but tinting on-demand provides similar benefits.

The stability and rheological properties of the FLV Series masstones make it a great system for tinting epoxy, polyurethane, and polyaspartic floor and industrial maintenance coatings in a point-of-sale location.

Conclusion

Whether the FLV Series standard color packs or the FLV Series masstones are employed, the ability to produce a consistent color greatly improves the performance and efficiency of the application process. Learn more about the FLV Series products here.
